Description

For most advisors, retirement is not an all-at-once event determined by age or achievement of financial goals. It’s a transition. It’s a controlled process for gradually extracting the value you’ve spent a lifetime building, and providing your clients with ongoing professional services and advisory solutions.

Whether your goal is to sell your firm or transition it to a family member or key employee, beginning succession planning early affords you more control and better choices.

In this webinar, you'll learn about:

  • Key metrics in determining and monitoring your practice’s value
  • Finding or developing the right successor or continuity partner
  • Building a business model that can outlive you
  • Setting up an internal ownership track, or ISOP, to build additional value
  • Current, practical retirement strategies for the entrepreneur

Guest speaker David Grau Sr., JD, is the president of FP Transitions, a leading provider of valuation, continuity, and succession plans for independently owned financial service practices. A columnist at Financial Planning magazine for six years, Grau writes a blog on Advisors4Advisors. David has over 17 years of experience in the securities industry as a regulator, a securities attorney in private practice, and with FP Transitions.

I think it the ratings were 1-10, it would deserve a 10. Excellent presentation, very direct and succint. Also somewhat uplifting after hearing Mark Hurley. Thank you for another excellent webinar, as always.

I've spent a fair amount of time looking at small RIA firms to buy - it's a very uneven landscape and I'm finding sellers who do not work through a firm like FP Transitions very unrealistic. I subscribe to them and wish their knowledge could be absorbed by all RIA owners over 50 . . . I thought it was clear and excellent.
