Growth, health care, finance and emerging markets performed well in the second quarter. Midcap, core, energy and EAFE performed poorly. Stock markets gave back some first-quarter gains, but it’s still all good. U.S. stock markets at mid-year have earned a respectable 9.5% return. A euphoric first-quarter 12.6% gain gave way to a 2.8% minor setback in the second quarter.
Foreign markets have not fared as well, earning only 3.4% at mid-year.
In the Complete Commentary I examine the details of what has been working in global stocks, providing important insights into market segments that have succeeded and failed. I also go out on a limb to predict what your mid-year performance reports will show. Check me out.
